Social isolation can have many different faces. Whether it is an introverted senior too shy to engage in a group activity in the care facility, a senior who lives in her family home but finds it increasingly difficult to manage daily life, or someone who no longer drives but still wants and needs to be connected to the community they have been in for so long. A physical or cognitive change can create more challenges in many different areas of life.
Helping and supporting the family caregiver, A Friend Indeed has regular scheduled visits to seniors like these and replaces the anxiety and upset with enjoyment and accessibility.
We can take mobile seniors on outings for shopping, local appointments or just a change of scenery.
A Friend Indeed is a companionship service bringing in-house, non-medical support to seniors and peace of mind to their families.
To help realize this, we are in need of well-presented, client-focus, honest, and fun loving individuals to add to our team.
Position: Casual & Part-Time, non-medical companion for seniors living in and around Didsbury AB
Start Date: Immediate
Requirements:
–Evidence of a clear Police Check with Vulnerable Sector included and Drivers Abstract
-Strong work ethic and high level of accuracy and dependability
-Responsible, attentive to needs of seniors, and committed to providing excellent service
-Must have a reliable vehicle that a senior is able to easily get into and out of
-Available during weekdays for regular scheduled visits which most often are minimum 2 hours in length
-Positive attitude, compassion, dependability, adaptability and willingness to accept and learn from suggestions for improvement
-Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks
-Good communication both verbal and email
-Punctuality
-Experience with seniors preferred and training is provided
Responsibilities:
-Fulfill the schedule of visits during scheduled week days and/or evenings
-Provide opportunities of enjoyment to seniors during your visit based on the senior’s individual profile/preferences
-Submit a visit summary after each visit using a online form
