About the Role

ASC is seeking a highly motivated and team-oriented individual who enjoys the challenges of working with a variety of family structures to support parents and caregivers with child and youth development. This role focuses on direct support to parents by navigating resources and community support services to assist and mentor health and wellness within the family unit.


Under the guidance of the ASC Program Director, the ideal candidate will be able to self-schedule and work independently to engage with families to set and achieve their goals. This opportunity works within the Ascend Family Supports Program and will require travel to families in Cremona, Carstairs, Didsbury, Olds, and Sundre. ASC provides mileage and expense reimbursement as well as internal training and professional development such as Triple P Programs.


This position is best suited for those who have experience and skills in the education, counselling, child and youth specialist, human and social services sectors.


Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate weekly with the ASC Coordinator and a team of family supports staff to debrief and review family goals and caseloads

  • Participate as part of a team, attend meetings, and obtain professional development training and goals

  • Confidentially collect and record caseload data on agency platforms

  • Ability to conduct interviews covering extremely sensitive and confidential issues


Qualifications and Knowledge:

  • Effectively engage in a non-judgement, inclusive, and caring atmosphere with family/child/youth

  • Identify individuals’ needs and resourcing options and solutions by navigating service systems

  • Provide quality family-centred supports to meet the diverse needs sensitive to culture, gender, sexual orientation


Requirements:

  • A Degree or Diploma in Education, Human, Social Services. Expertise relating to child development and mental health are considered

  • 2 years of experience working with families and children or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

  • A valid driver’s license, 2 million liability insurance, and reliable vehicle for travel on scheduled workdays

  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record and Child Intervention Record check

The ideal candidate would have knowledge of Triple P Programs: including Primary, Group, Teen, FearLess and Transitions. ASC will support training opportunities for these programs.
